New seeds and an idea

Decided as I was cooking the meatballs for a Barby later….. Oh I can grow seeds and recycle this plastic.

So….. I have. Not sure what will work but heyho 😁

Yesterday I read up on things to help arthritis as I have just been told officially I have it! (mind you when you have arthritis you know you have it 😔) so I looked at TURMERIC root.

I have just gone and ordered some gorgeous little yellow tubers and watch this space.

Also gonna have a go at OCA again. Did love them when I had them a few years ago. (Roasted like potatoes) apparently when the moon is in a certain time in harvest time, top leaves will dye off and then you dig up lots of little tubas.

This is why I do allotment gardening….

Heaven. This is CROWN PRINCE with a nutty flavour and gorgeous baked, boiled, fried, soups….. Well anything. ❤️

Put KALE TOPS in garden salad 🥗 bed yesterday…. Another new for me.

Along with LITTLE GEM and CHANTILLY 🥕. All in the salad bed at home. Also in there red SPRING ONIONS, MORE LETTUCE AND RADISH. GARLIC coming along nicely. Think the mice have had my PEAS… growing the tops for salad.

I am an experimental gardener and love trying all these new things…. Not all turn out good though.

Happy mothers day

My beautiful child is away but managed to get a pressie delivered in time and a lovely bunch of daffs.

To celebrate I’m going to the lottie for the day, although a bit cloudy I’m going to sort my bean poles ready and then off to friends for a lovely roast dinner.

After lunch continuing with painting my flower box (made out of pallets) for my beach hut. Below the frame coming along. St. Ives inspired.

Is coming along nicely. I’m looking for miniatures to keep producing mini flowers through spring, summer and autumn. So far tete tetes are in and I’m looking for some summer bulbs now to put in.

Well off and get going….. Have a happy mother’s day to one and all. 💐

Potting on🌱

Lovely time of the season potting on these little seeds…. 🌱 now you get a little plant to grow and nurture and protect from the ⛅🌞🌀🌨️🌞🐌🐛🐌🦋🤔

It always grieves me to plant a seed tray full and then hope for the best and then only plant a handful of successful plants  I try to give them away but my thinking is … How do you not waste all this little seedlings when you only want about 6/8 plants ??  If you don’t plant enough you may not always be successful and if you plant too many you have to waste so many.

So potted on piccilo tomatoes, Greyhound cabbages and my lovely peas seedlings into the ground yesterday. IMG_20190324_090815_839

As well as get in with my lovely beach hut in my garden  The best piece of furniture has to be the pallet sofa. ♥️ This was last night  Added a couple of cheapy solar blue lights and this was the result  I love it  I’m sure in a former life I was a mermaid. 😁🧜‍♀️

Slightly taken over

Having visited the beautiful St. IVES recently, I’m giving it a go at building a beach hut in my garden…. Its is taking up my time at the moment. It also means I’m living in a real mess but also finding so many things to buy to put in it.

So I have bought Costal mist paint…

And have been painting everything I can…. Every single piece of wood so far is recycled. Sheds and pallets.

I’m so excited….. I’m also thinking I have to have a window box with little daffs – thinking what veg can I get in there. Window came off the allotment skip.

The beginning of the journey….

Watch this space ❤️

Managed to plant some seeds into my salad bed in the garden.

Red spring onions, little gem lettuce and peas for pea shoots in my salad. Radish next and Thai basil which I discovered last year and is gorgeous in salads.

Bring on the 🌞

Oh the joy

The sun is shining here in Oxfordshire and I’m going to be potting on. 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

Got spring onions, and lettuce ready to go in the salad bed.

White sprouting 🥦 and Greyhound cabbages ready to go into allotment.

My lovely chickens laying eggs every day. 🥚🥚🥚🥚😍

And got some purple salad potatoes chitting in the greenhouse. Tomato seeds are coming through but a little slow. Need to see those next set of leaves. Piccolo no show at the moment 🤔 but red cherry and yellow cherry coming up.

How this weather makes you feel proactive and 😁

Time to get the heated propagation out 15.3.19

So I spend some lovely hours in my warm green house, tidying and getting ready. Decided to do some planting lettuce and spring onion seeds ready to go in my salad raised bed at home.

Decided I would also get the tomato 🍅 seeds in earlier than last year.

Planted yellow sweet toms in a little cardboard pod bought for a couple of quid in a garden centre. (Miracle-Gro Gro-ables Cherry tomatoes.) never tried them before so worth a go.

One again planted Piccolo, my favourite, and worked really well last year. This is what I did by buying from supermarket.

Red cherry tomatoes planted at the allotment supplied me with tonnes of gorgeous little sweet bombs of flavour.

Also planted Thai basil again this year…. Yum yum especially in salad. ❤️

Cabbage, Greyhound, are poking their head above the soil today. First leaves up 😁🌱

To bean or not to bean

So….. Off I go and mention to my mate I planted the beans with slits up! 😒 My friend says “that’s the root end”

😁 So I have lovingly gone out to the greenhouse and turned them all.

🌱 They are now on their sides but not lying down flat as they are supposed to rot. Proudly my beans are all laying in their comfy compost home ready to grow.
