Due to the wet weather, and moving to New plot…. I’m getting frustrated with not having anything planted so….
So did a bit more… Spread muck all over the plot. Moved the compost bin and moved the contents aswell so not stuck in the middle of the plot. Added more wood chip to fruit bushes.
Then spread chicken pellets all over the asparagus bed and in readiness for strawberries.
Exhausting day as then came home and spend some time planting. Weirdly think some seeds must have escaped into my compost….these are tomatoes but look like reddish.
Planted beans, peas, sweetcorn (mini ones), sweet peas, cauliflower and some edameme beans. So bring on the heatwave next week! Coming along nicely.
Them home to make goats cheese!
Got the bean sticks in ready and covered half the plot in readiness of a load of pallets being delivered to the site.
Got broad beans in and cleared some weeds and a ton of snails. Laid my asparagus bed…. 1 year old plants so should have some nice asparagus in a year !!!! We I be able to resist it?
Getting there…. Them speed for a community cuppa.
So I go to plant some seeds and then swap allotments…..
I now the proud owner of plot 8a. Next to the community shed, water butt, toilet and my mates. The greenhouse came with it too. 😊
Finally had time to plant some seeds…..
Planted too many tomatoes but want to try lots of different varieties this year. Had a successful year with piccolo last year from shop bought tomatoes and dried the seeds.
Going to grow edameme beans this year too as I buy them from supermarket and thought!!!!! WHY? SO THEY ARE SOWN. This year I have electric to the green house so propagators are plugged in to protect them.
Cat quite likes greenhouse too!
Must have clear up in greenhouse ready for the season.
Bring on the spring.
Fruit bushes flourishing – raspberries, josterberry, spineless gooseberries, autumn gold raspberry, new rhubarb, blackcurrant and honey berries.
Come on spring….. Im ready!
The planned plot adding lots of fruit. 20 raspberry canes went in at the weekend. Added lovely horse manure on the top. Thanks goes to Geoff, my allotment Buddie, who helped me dig up the canes from someone’s garden and planted in my allotment.
Still got 2 honey bear fruit bushes to go in. And 2 blackcurrant bushes. (proud of myself as they are my cuttings growing well)
Being excited about sowing seeds. Tomatoes next weekend.
Let the growing season begin….
I started this blog….. I then found it a chore to do my allotment as I’m sure some do….. But I haven’t given up, which I did think about several times.
I have had 2 hand operations in the last 4 months, the last one just over 7 weeks ago.
And its still tender but today I went up to my plot and remembered why I have an allotment.
Meet up with plot holder friends at our community shed and shared coffee, horse poo and a chat. We’ll earned after shuffling wheel barrows full of horse poo.
The shed in the snow.
Managed to replan the big plot I have to make permenant fruit beds and planted established raspberry canes today.🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇
Also managed to clock up over 7000 steps on the fit bit. So…… Now what seeds shall I start to sew in my greenhouse?
So proud of myself. Never entered any of my produce into these village shows. Today I entered a gem squash and my chilli ….. only went and got a First.
Think it’s all about entering really but it is fun when you see a card next to your hard growing and know someone else appreciates your produce.
